This month, we had the pleasure of hosting a screening of Beneath the Tides at Alliance Francaise in Mombasa. For the first time, we introduced a filmmaking masterclass before the screenings, aimed at nurturing the local filmmaking community.

The masterclass sessions were led by some of the talented crew and cast from Beneath the Tides, offering invaluable insights:

• Sam Tebandeke – Directing: Emphasizing Collaboration & Teamwork
• Malik Lemuel – Understanding the Actor’s Process: From Script Analysis to Character Development
• Clifford Okumu – Pool Writing: Drawing from Experience in Saida, Nira, Pete, The Kalimani Dynasty, and Sanura
• Chloe Genga – The Social Impact of Films: A Softie Case Study

The film screening, themed "Generation Connect: Exploring Family Dynamics Across the Ages," provided a thought-provoking exploration of intergenerational relationships through the short films Mawimbi and Ziwa. The event cultivated an inclusive atmosphere, celebrating the diverse perspectives and journeys of each generation.
