We are growing! This month, we are happy to introduce two new members who have officially joined the LBx Africa team.

Mwakesi Mwakale – Editor
Mwakesi joins us as a full-time Editor, bringing a deep passion for finding creative ways to elevate every story. Many of you may already be familiar with his work; he is the editor behind the powerful BBC Africa Eye documentary, Sickle Cell: The Enemy Within.

Mwakesi has been a long-time collaborator on various LBx projects in different capacities from technical roles as a DIT on Ziwa, and Mawimbi, to contributing as an Editor and Assistant Editor on Softie, Matabeleland, and our latest short, One Last Order. Having his technical skill, versatile experience, and storytelling eye in-house is a great addition to our post-production workflow.

Wisdom Mandela – Admin Assistant
Mandela joins the team as our Administrative Assistant, taking on a dual role that covers Executive Assistance and office operations. From managing complex calendars and travel logistics to organizing internal events, Mandela ensures the studio runs smoothly. Beyond the spreadsheets, Wisdom is an emerging multidisciplinary filmmaker; a cinematographer, director, and editor whose work recently premiered at the Vuka Film Festival. We value having a team where even the administrative core is rooted in a deep love for African cinema.
