Stero is back on the road and heading to the U.S. after being selected for the Seattle Black Film Festival, a space dedicated to celebrating Black cinema and storytellers. The short film, which premiered internationally at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), continues its festival journey with this selection, marking another moment of global visibility for the project.
Directed by Millan Tarus and Tevin Kimathi, Stero follows Bruce Koech, a young boy navigating humiliation, authority, and the quiet battle to protect his sense of self within a rigid school system. Blending imagination and lived experience, the film explores language, discipline, and identity through the eyes of a child caught between who he is and who he is expected to be.
Screening dates and timings at Seattle Black Film Festival will be announced soon.
