The film that is available to watch on BBC Africa Eye spotlights Lea’s journey as a tireless advocate for sickle cell disease who has devoted more than ten years to addressing the challenges of this condition in resource-limited, rural communities of sub-Saharan Africa. Her focus is to eradicate the health disparities that lead to unnecessary death and disability.

What Is Eating My Mind was recently screened at the American Embassy in Kenya to raise staff awareness of mental health.

The documentary also available on BBC Africa Eye is an insightful and deeply personal story of living with bipolar disorder in Kenya.

The film documents the journey of Noella Luka, an aspiring African filmmaker who dreamed of living and working abroad. That dream came to a crashing halt when Noella was hospitalized and diagnosed with bipolar disorder while studying at a film school in North Carolina, USA. 

Now back in Kenya, where mental health issues are usually not talked about, Noella tries to figure out how to navigate this unknown territory with her family when she meets Nick through a mental health support group.
